PERFORMANCE OF THE EURO (No.9)

That this House notes the announcement on 28th March of the latest French unemployment figures for February, which shows that seasonally adjusted unemployment has risen by 19,200 taking French unemployment to 2.34 million, 5.7 per cent. higher than February 2002; notes that French unemployment has now risen every month bar one since the launch of euro notes and coins on 1st January 2002; further notes that using the ILO measure, French unemployment now stands at 9.2 per cent.; and believes that this shows that the euro is not working.
