Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Nick Palmer (Labour), on Monday, 16 December 2002, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 70 members in total.

CONSUMPTION OF DOGS IN THE PHILIPPINES

That this House congratulates Sky News on its broadcast on Political Animal Lobby's work in the Philippines on the illegal trade in the capture and slaughter of dogs for food; notes with great concern that despite the Act passed in 1998 the trade continues; respectfully requests the Philippine Government to recognise the repugnant nature of this practice to many countries around the world; and calls upon the relevant Philippine authorities to enforce the terms of the 1998 Act by stamping out the selling of dogs for food.
