Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Andrew Rosindell (Conservative), on Wednesday, 22 January 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 22 members in total.
SCOTT YOUNG PETITION
That this House welcomes Kim and Ray Young to the House today; expresses its sadness at the loss of their son, Scott, who was killed in tragic circumstances when, on 14th December 2001, he was attacked and hit by a car; is appalled by the short sentence of only three years given to his killer; notes the incredible campaign the family have organised in collecting a petition of over 40,000 signatures that calls for greater justice and more appropriate sentencing for such crimes; further notes that the Home Secretary will be meeting them today to receive the petition and expresses the hope that all their efforts will be considered carefully by the Government; and calls for a review of sentencing policy to ensure the punishment fits the crime.
