Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Mike Weir (Scottish National Party), on Tuesday, 19 November 2002, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 23 members in total.

BRITISH ENERGY AND NUCLEAR POWER

That this House notes the continuing financial difficulties of British Energy and that the existing loan of ??650 million from Her Majesty's Government expires at the end of November; and believes that the continuing problems with the company shows that nuclear power is uneconomic, that no more public funds should be used to prop up the company and that existing nuclear power stations should be phased out at the end of their economic or technological life.
