Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Jeremy Corbyn (Labour), on Monday, 9 December 2002, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 50 members in total.
PENSIONER TRAVEL
That this House applauds the work of the Labour-controlled Greater London Council who provided free travel for pensioners in 1973; applauds similar schemes introduced in other part of the country; recalls that despite the best efforts of the Tory Government from 1979 to 1997 most of the schemes survived; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to rule out any diminution in free travel arrangements for the elderly and instead consider the introduction of a free national travel scheme for all pensioners.
