Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Graham Allen (Labour), on Thursday, 8 July 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 16 members in total.
RATE CAPPING OF NOTTINGHAM CITY COUNCIL
That this House believes it is ill considered and wrong to charge council tax payers in Nottingham approximately ??250,000 to rebill council tax demands for an overbudgeting of ??180,000; recognises that this matter had been resolved by discussion and adjustment and that the need to put a Labour council on the capping list has overridden common sense and financial probity; and calls on the Government to withdraw Nottingham's name from the list.
