Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Paul Marsden (Liberal Democrat), on Wednesday, 8 September 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 5 members in total.
SHREWSBURY WORK AND PENSIONS OFFICE
That this House is concerned with discussions to reduce the size of or close the Shrewsbury Monkmoor office of the Department for Work and Pensions that provides benefit processing and face to face benefit advice for local people in rural Shropshire; notes that any reduction in services could result in some of the most disadvantaged people in society having to travel long distances to continue to receive benefit advice; and urges the Department for Work and Pensions to safeguard the long-term security of the 179 jobs.
