FLOOD DISASTERS

That this House congratulates the people of Boscastle, Crackington Haven and adjoining areas for their bravery and community spirit in the face of adversity following the recent devastating floods in North Cornwall; thanks the emergency services for their swift, professional action and notes that without it loss of life could well have occurred; further notes the prompt and positive response of the Deputy Prime Minister and his Department and thanks the Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, for his financial and moral support; notes with concern the deficiencies of the Bellwin Formula; and urges the Government to look again at how best to support communities devastated by flooding.
