Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Norman Baker (Liberal Democrat), on Thursday, 27 May 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 22 members in total.

FUTURE OF NIREX

That this House notes with concern the failure of the Government almost a year after pledging to do so to make explicit the future role envisaged for NIREX; considers it impossible for honourable Members scrutinising the energy Bill to reach a satisfactory conclusion on the appropriate role and powers of the proposed Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) until its relationship with NIREX has been clarified; and calls on Ministers to make a clear statement on the future of NIREX and its envisaged relationship with NDA in time to allow its intentions to be considered by the House before the Energy Bill completes its Commons stages.
