Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Iris Robinson (Democratic Unionist Party), on Monday, 28 June 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 10 members in total.
LOVE FOR LIFE ORGANISATION
That this House notes the third target of the Teenage Pregnancy and Parenthood Strategy and Action Plan for 2002 to 2007 in Northern Ireland is that 75 per cent. of teenagers should not have experienced sexual intercourse by the age of 16 years; appreciates the unique role of the charity, Love for Life, in educating more than 30,000 children from over 150 schools in the province about relationships and personal development each year; recognises that feedback from both pupils and staff is very positive and that there is broad cross-party acknowledgement of the organisation's contribution; believes that it would be unrealistic to expect teachers and school nurses to provide an equally specialised pupil-focused service to meet current need; and urges the Government to provide central core funding for Love for Life that would allow appropriate planning and avoid cutbacks in staffing and services.
