NATIONAL EPILEPSY WEEK 16th-22nd MAY 2004

That this House supports the National Society for Epilepsy (NSE) and the 2004 National Epilepsy week which aims to raise awareness of this condition and which this year has a theme of Epilepsy in primary care; notes that 1 in 200 people in th UK have epilepsy and 80 new cases are diagnosed every day; agrees that a population which is educated about the causes and effects of epilepsy will help to reduce misconceptions with respect to how common the condition is, as well as how best to deal with a person who is having an epileptic seizure; and calls on the Government to help the NSE achieve its awareness targets.
