Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Harry Cohen (Labour), on Monday, 1 March 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 13 members in total.
BUTLER INQUIRY
That this House notes that the Butler Inquiry into the Intelligence Services' pre-war claims about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction no longer has bi-party support, and that confidence in it must therefore inevitably be seriously eroded; and believes that as a consequence it should be abandoned in its present form and replaced by an inquiry, with the confidence of all the three main parties represented in the House with a wider remit and a more broadly-based membership, including at least one person who was not in favour of the war and sceptical of the reasons for it.
