Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Bob Russell (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 22 March 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 5 members in total.

WOMEN OF ESSEX AND THE PEOPLE NEWSPAPER

That this House condemns The People newspaper for publishing derogatory remarks about women from the County of Essex in its issue of 21st March; notes that had the offensive comments been directed at people because of their colour or religion it would have caused outrage amongst all decent thinking citizens and would be considered by some to break the law; believes that such attacks on women from Essex have no place in civilised society; considers they are unworthy of any publication which wants to be taken seriously; and therefore calls on people to boycott The People and to switch their allegiance to another Sunday publication.
