Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Tim Yeo (Conservative), on Tuesday, 23 March 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 186 members in total.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE FOOD SUPPLEMENTS DIRECTIVE

That this House notes with great concern the Government's failure to take a proactive role in negotiations over the implementation of the Food Supplements Directive; expresses its grave disquiet that many vitamins and minerals in common use are set to become illegal even though the authorities have raised no concerns about their safety; further believes that such a development will deny consumer choice and put many businesses at risk purely to achieve harmonisation across the EU; and calls on the Government to act quickly and effectively in defence of British producers and consumers of minerals and vitamins.
