STREET AND COVERED MARKETS
That this House welcomes and highly commends the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister's consultation paper on draft planning policy related to town centres and the excellent advice that street and covered markets can make a valuable contribution to local choice and delivery in shopping as well as the vitality of town centres, as an integral part of the local authority's vision for their town centre; and believes that markets should be retained and enhanced and local authorities should ensure that their markets remain attractive and competitive by investing in their improvement.
