Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Iris Robinson (Democratic Unionist Party), on Wednesday, 14 January 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 11 members in total.
ARMY DECISION TO REMOVE UNION FLAG FROM SOLDIERS UNIFORMS
That this House notes with dismay the decision by the Commanding Officer of the British Army in Northern Ireland to remove the National Flag of the United Kingdom from the uniforms of soldiers returning from the war in Iraq and now serving in Northern Ireland; and calls upon the Government immediately to reverse this decision which has upset officers, and their families, who fought and in some cases died in Iraq while proudly wearing their nation's flag.
