Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Foster of Bath (Liberal Democrat), on Thursday, 15 January 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 26 members in total.
THE BAFTA AWARDS AND RICKY GERVAIS
That this House laments the BBC's clerical error that left Ricky Gervais without a nomination for this year's BAFTA Awards; praises Gervais for creating and starring in the wonderful sitcom that is The Office; acknowledges the place Gervais holds in the unique tradition of great British comedians; requests that the BBC ensures Gervais receives the recognition his achievements deserve; and urges BAFTA'S TV Committee to accept a late nomination for Gervais in these exceptional circumstances.
