Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor David Burnside (Ulster Unionist Party), on Tuesday, 3 February 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 8 members in total.
RETENTION OF POLICE RESERVE IN NORTHERN IRELAND
That this House recognises the essential requirement for the retention of the full-time police reserve in Northern Ireland owing to the continued terrorist threat and widespread criminality in all sections of the community; calls on Her Majesty's Government to resist attempts to weaken policing by phasing out the full-time reserve next year; and commits itself to retaining the service of the reserve until its officers come to the end of their natural careers.
