Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Tyler (Liberal Democrat), on Wednesday, 26 January 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 38 members in total.
PREVENTION OF BEE DISEASES
That this House notes the enormous economic contribution made by bees through their pollination activity; deplores the Government's proposed cut to the Bee Health Programme at the National Bee Unit; believes that a saving to the Government of ??250,000 does not represent a sufficient return for the risk posed to bee health by the removal of varroosis and European foulbrood from the list of notifiable bee diseases and the reduction in the number of bee inspectors to identify this disease; and calls on the Government to review its decision.
