Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Tim Collins (Conservative), on Monday, 7 February 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 59 members in total.
STUDENT VISA CHARGES
That this House notes with concern the Government's plan for a substantial increase in overseas student visa charges; believes that the increase is a consequence of the Government's failure to tackle illegal immigration through language schools and that as a result higher enforcement costs are being passed on to bona fide students; and calls on the Government to carry out a detailed assessment of the impact of its plans on universities in the UK before taking any further action.
