WARD WATCH CAMPAIGN

That this House supports Mind's Ward Watch campaign to improve hospital conditions for mental health patients; agrees with Mind that hospitals should treat the meeting of minimum standards as the starting point for providing a truly therapeutic environment and not as an end in itself; and further agrees that mixed sex wards must be eliminated, that service users must be involved in the planning and delivery of services, that urgent action must be taken to improve the experiences and perceptions of safety in mental health wards, that insufficient staffing levels and the reliance on agency staff must be addressed immediately and that all patients must have access to fresh air, exercise and meaningful recreation.
