Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ron Brown (Labour), on Wednesday, 8 May 1991, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 74 members in total.
ROBERT TRESSELL: AN APPRECIATION
That this House notes that Robert Tressell died in poverty in Liverpool Royal Infirmary 80 years ago, recognises that his book, 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists', which he wrote as a resident of Mugsborough, is a working-class classic; believes that it has helped countless activists in the struggle against injustice; and calls on all public libraries to stock the new complete edition so that young workers can learn from his experiences as a Socialist.
