Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Colin Breed (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 1 March 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 65 members in total.
ANGELA CANNINGS (No. 2)
That this House recognises the courage and bravery of Angela Cannings and her family in allowing the events of her arrest, prosecution and imprisonment to be shown in a BBC1 drama on 22nd February; congratulates the BBC and the cast on the programme; and urges the Government to provide whatever resources are necessary to review urgently all the remaining cases which have been solely reliant upon the testimony of expert witnesses, similar to that of Mrs Cannings, so that any underlying unsafe convictions may be quashed.
