OPENING OF THE SCROBY SANDS OFFSHORE WIND FARM

That this House congratulates E.ON UK on the commissioning of its offshore wind farm at Scroby Sands off the coast of Great Yarmouth; notes that its 30 turbines will provide 60MW of renewable energy, enough to supply around 41,000 homes, while displacing the emission of 75,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum; further notes the contribution the Scroby Sands Visitors Centre is making to the Great Yarmouth local tourist economy; further notes that the site is acting as artificial reef to the benefit of local marine life; and welcomes the contribution that Scroby Sands will make to meeting the UK Government's renewable energy targets and its commitments under the Kyoto Treaty.
