Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Jeremy Corbyn (Labour), on Monday, 21 March 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 28 members in total.
WATER PRIVATISATION IN BOLIVIA
That this House applauds the popular campaign in Bolivia to ensure that the water supply in Cochabamba is returned to public ownership; is concerned that one of the companies that took part in the privatisation, and attempted to raise water prices by 300 per cent. is now demanding $25 million from the people of Bolivia; and believes that Abengoa should end their legal action and respect the democratic wish of Bolivians to continue to own their own natural resources.
