Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Hoyle (Labour), on Wednesday, 5 June 1991, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 33 members in total.

DEATH OF BRIAN BEVAN

That this House regrets the death on Monday 3rd June of Brian Bevan, one of the legendary figures of Rugby League; notes that Brian an Australian who played all his rugby in Britain, was one of the original members of the Rugby League Hall of Fame and that, during a career starting in 1945 and spanning 18 seasons, 16 of them with Warrington, he scored a world record 796 tries and was, in the opinion of many people, the finest ever winger; and considers that Rugby League and the world of sport are poorer for his passing.
