AUNG SAN SUU KYI'S 60th BIRTHDAY
That this House wishes Aung San Suu Kyi a happy 60th birthday on 19th June; notes that on that day she will have spent a total of nine years and 238 days in detention; expresses concern that she is allowed no visitors, her phone has been cut and her post intercepted; observes that despite repeated calls by the United Nations, British Government and European Union for her release there is currently no prospect of her being released; and calls on the Government and United Nations to step up political and economic pressure on the regime to secure the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners in Burma.
