CO-OPERATIVE INSURANCE SOCIETY AND ETHICAL POLICY
That this House congratulates the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) on becoming the first insurance company in the world to launch an ethical engagement policy; notes that this will act as its guide for all future shareholder activism and campaigning; further notes the overwhelming mandate CIS has received from its customers to introduce this policy; wholeheartedly supports CIS policy of using its funds under management of more than ??20 billion to lobby businesses at every opportunity to improve their ethical and environmental performance; and applauds those companies that pro-actively adopt commendable initiatives.
