Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Alan Simpson (Labour), on Wednesday, 16 November 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 30 members in total.
RAILWAY TEST-TRACK CLOSURE
That this House notes with alarm the proposed closure of Great Britain's only railway test track, which runs between Asfordby and Nottingham; recognises that the track was upgraded only six years ago at a cost of ??25 million; notes that the test track's closure means either that new trains will have to be tested on the already overcrowded rail network or on test tracks elsewhere in Europe, leaving even more reliance on foreign equipment and technology; and calls on the Government to intervene to ensure the survival of the track.
