Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Angus Robertson (Scottish National Party), on Thursday, 15 December 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 24 members in total.
MOHAMED EL BARADEI AND ELIMINATION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS
That this House congratulates Mohamed El Baradei and the International Atomic Energy Agency on winning the Nobel Peace Prize; agrees with his statement during his acceptance speech that the world should work to make nuclear weapons as universally condemned as slavery or genocide; and calls upon the United Kingdom Government to further that aim by meeting its responsibilities under Article VI of the 1968 Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons to advance quickly towards a Treaty on general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control.
