BBC RELOCATION TO GREATER MANCHESTER

That this House welcomes the significant co-operation and partnership between the public and private sectors in the North West region to develop proposals, involving an initial investment of ??500 million of which the majority is private sector investment, for a Media Enterprise Zone in Greater Manchester which will create 8,000 to 10,000 jobs for the North West, drawing on the extensive creative and business skills within the region; and calls on the BBC to confirm its decision to implement the Greater Manchester relocation announced in principle in December 2004 at its meeting on 14th June, and to select one of the two remaining bids as the preferred option to ensure that the relocation takes place.

after `region;', insert `but asks the BBC to recognise that whilst based in the North West, it should draw on the expertise and skills which are offered throughout North Wales, and that use of the creative talent of media and production companies based in that region would unequivocally prove beneficial for both the North West and North Wales, as well as for the BBC;'.
