Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Keith Vaz (Labour), on Tuesday, 11 July 2006, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 67 members in total.
FOOTBALL AGAINST RACISM CAMPAIGN
That this House congratulates the German hosts for organising such an excellent tournament; recognises the efforts made by the World Cup hosts to tackle racism and prejudice; believes that there is no justification for verbal abuse or racism in sport by fans, administrations or players; rejects the idea that such abuse should be used for tactical purposes as entirely unsporting; and hopes that the power of sport will continue to bring different nations, peoples and cultures together.
