Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lindsay Hoyle (Labour), on Tuesday, 17 October 2006, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 60 members in total.
FARMGATE MILK PRICES
That this House notes the plight of many dairy farmers who currently receive in the region of 17 pence per litre for the milk they produce; recognises that the future of dairy farming is not sustainable with such prices; further notes the increase in milk being imported, particularly from Poland; and calls on the Government to work with supermarkets to ensure that UK dairy farmers have a viable and sustainable future by establishing a minimum farmgate price set for milk at 20 pence per litre.
