Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor John Barrett (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 20 November 2006, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 80 members in total.
DOG AND CAT FUR TRADE
That this House strongly welcomes the European Commission's proposal to ban the import, export and sale of dog and cat fur products to the European Union; regrets that the UK is one of the EU's member states that does not already have a ban on the import, export or sale of dog and cat fur products; recognises that such fur has been found on clothing, personal accessories and children's soft toys in the European Union; and calls on the UK Government to support these proposals.
