Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Chris Bryant (Labour), on Tuesday, 21 November 2006, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 42 members in total.
MURDER OF PIERRE GEMAYEL IN BEIRUT
That this House condemns the murder of the leading anti-Syrian Lebanese minister and Maronite Christian leader, Pierre Gemayel; notes that, following the murder of the country's former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, this is not the first murder of a prominent supporter of a free democratic Lebanon; further notes that the UN recently implicated Syria in Rafik Hariri's death; and calls on Syria both to condemn all such violence against Lebanese democrats and politicians and to honour Lebanon's freedom.
