Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Jeremy Corbyn (Labour), on Monday, 11 December 2006, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 72 members in total.
DEATH OF AUGUSTO PINOCHET UGARTE
That this House notes the death of Augusto Pinochet Ugarte, former dictator of Chile; regrets that he never faced trial for human rights abuses or the terror he caused in many countries in South America; notes that he also escaped prosecution on charges of corruption, tax evasion and cocaine smuggling; sympathises with the families of his victims; and hopes that prosecutions of Pinochet accomplices will continue.
