Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Greg Hands (Conservative), on Thursday, 18 January 2007, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 15 members in total.
MAYOR OF LONDON AND FOREIGN POLICY
That this House expresses its displeasure over the current Mayor of London's continued desire to conduct foreign policy; is deeply concerned that, at a time when the RMT is balloting on strike action on the Tube, the Mayor is using council taxpayers' money to host and fund a conference on 20th January 2007 entitled A World Civilisation or a Clash of Civilisations?, to include sessions on democratic solutions for the Middle East and Can there be progressive colonialism?; and urges the Mayor to concentrate on solving pressing problems facing Londoners rather than behaving like an alternative Foreign Secretary.
