Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Daniel Kawczynski (Conservative), on Tuesday, 6 March 2007, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 52 members in total.

EFFECT OF LOW DAIRY PRICES ON THE ENVIRONMENT

That this House is concerned by recent reports of the effect of low milk prices on the environment as farmers are compelled to stock more cattle whilst cutting costs, putting pressure on the land, causing effects such as compacted soil, which leads to soil erosion and flooding, and that the low milk price also ensures that farmers do not have the necessary investment to prevent or rectify these problems; and calls yet again on the Government to look into the matter to safeguard the dairy industry and the environment.
