Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor David Marshall (Labour), on Thursday, 17 May 2007, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 18 members in total.
UEFA CUP FINAL IN GLASGOW
That this House congratulates everyone involved in the 2007 UEFA Football Cup Final held at Hampden Park, Glasgow on Wednesday 16th May, especially the estimated 52,000 spectators, of whom an estimated 30,000 were from Spain, to watch Espanyol play Sevilla in a game won by Sevilla in a penalty shoot out; notes that there was a great community spirit amongst Glaswegians and Spaniards alike and that an excellent time was had by all; further notes that this was the sixth major European final held at Hampden, which has a tradition of hosting memorable occasions; and hopes that many more such events will be held there, including some 2014 Commonwealth Games events if Glasgow's bid to host those games is successful.
