ACHIEVEMENTS OF GLASGOW EAST PRIMARY SCHOOLS

That this House congratulates the pupils, staff and parents of St Benedict's Primary School in Easterhouse on its being awarded five excellent ratings by the Schools Inspectorate, making it one of the best primary schools in Scotland; notes that the school is the result of a merger of three primary schools in 2004; praises the campaigns by pupils against racism and sectarianism; and welcomes these ratings as further recognition of the general improvements in the East End of Glasgow, which were also typified by Mount Vernon Primary School being awarded five excellent ratings last year and being recognised as the best performing primary school in the city of Glasgow.
