Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Greg Pope (Labour), on Wednesday, 19 March 2008, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 13 members in total.
ACCRINGTON HM REVENUE AND CUSTOMS OFFICE
That this House notes with dismay the reversal of the interim decision to keep Accrington HM Revenue and Customs office open; notes with concern that the staff there face the possibility of being relocated to jobs in Manchester or Bootle, destinations which far exceed a reasonable daily travelling distance; further notes the excellent business performance of the 112 staff at Accrington HM Revenue and Customs office; finds the decision to close the office inexplicable; and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Financial Secretary to the Treasury to intervene and reverse this decision.
