Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Beith (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 9 June 2008, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 21 members in total.
BICENTENARY OF BERWICK ADVERTISER
That this House congratulates the Berwick Advertiser on its 200th anniversary of service as a local newspaper for the Berwick area; further recognises the contribution of the Tweeddale Press newspapers to the life of communities throughout North Northumberland and the Borders; and draws attention to the vital role of local weekly newspapers and their on-line services at a time when many national media trivialise or ignore the democratic process.
