Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Peter Robinson (Democratic Unionist Party), on Monday, 21 July 2008, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 29 members in total.
WELCOME HOME THE HEROES CAMPAIGN
That this House recognises the bravery, dedication and sacrifice of those who serve in the United Kingdom's armed forces throughout the world; notes that in other countries troops returning home from theatres of conflict are afforded official state recognition for their service and bravery; recognises the growing public calls for such recognition being led in Northern Ireland by the News Letter's Welcome Home the Heroes campaign; and calls upon the Ministry of Defence to initiate plans to allow for welcome home parades and other measures for returning servicemen and women coming back to the United Kingdom from Iraq and Afghanistan.
