Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Simon Hughes (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 18 December 1990, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 8 members in total.

HOSPITAL SCHOOLS

That this House congratulates the staff and teachers at the Guy's Hospital School, the Maudsley Hospital School, the Bethlem Royal Hospital School and the Bloomfield Learning Centre for providing an excellent educational service which is valued by parents, pupils and medical professionals; expresses its concern that staffing levels and future funding for these schools is under threat, partly because the costs incurred by these schools for teaching pupils from outside the Borough of Southwark are not automatically recoverable from the other local authorities who benefit from the services provided by Southwark; calls upon the Government urgently to consider ways of ensuring that local education authorities who run hospital schools receive full recoupment of costs from other local authorities who benefit from the educational services provided, on a statutory basis and within a specifically defined time period; and further calls upon the Government to consider providing extra resources to hospital schools.
