Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Christopher Chope (Conservative), on Thursday, 15 January 2009, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 50 members in total.
EQUITABLE LIFE COMPENSATION
That this House recognises that justice delayed has already meant justice denied for many deceased Equitable Life policy holders; notes that the Government frequently sets timetable targets for implementation of policies which it regards as important; calls on the Government to publish a target date in 2009 by which it expects the first Equitable Life policy holder compensation payments to be made to instruct Sir John Chadwick to advise urgently on what needs to be done to achieve that target; and urges the Government to provide the necessary resources to implement his recommendations and to report regularly to Parliament on progress achieved against the target.
