Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Stephen Hesford (Labour), on Monday, 9 February 2009, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 33 members in total.
FOOD STANDARDS AGENCY HEALTHY DIET CAMPAIGN
That this House supports the Food Standards Agency's campaign which launches on 10 February 2009 supported by Heart of Mersey and other organisations, to raise awareness of the positive changes that can be made to reduce the amount of saturated fats eaten; expresses great concern that the UK population consumes 20 per cent. more than the recommended maximum amount of saturated fats which contributes to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, the UK's biggest killer accounting for almost 198,000 deaths annually; and congratulates the Food Standards Agency and its partner organisations in contributing positively to combating the growing threat to health of obesity, diabetes and stroke.
