Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Greg Pope (Labour), on Wednesday, 4 March 2009, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 52 members in total.
CLOSURE OF HM REVENUE AND CUSTOMS OFFICES
That this House welcomes the contribution which HM Revenue and Customs employees make to the skills base and economy of the towns in which they work; recognises that the closure of HM Revenue and Customs offices will have a negative impact on local economies; believes that the role of government is to be actively on the side of local people especially during difficult economic circumstances; and calls for an immediate moratorium on the closure programme of HM Revenue and Customs offices and the establishment of a proper economic impact assessment before its reinstatement.
