Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Parmjit Dhanda (Labour), on Thursday, 21 May 2009, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 13 members in total.
GLOUCESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB AND THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
That this House congratulates Gloucester City AFC on its promotion from the BGB League; notes that the club has had to play all of its `home' matches at Cirencester, over 20 miles from the city, since the loss of Gloucester's Meadow Park ground in the great floods of 2007; notes with incredulity the Football Association's suggestion that Gloucester City should be promoted to the Blue Square Conference North rather than the Blue Square Conference South, despite the fact that it would entail round trip journeys of upwards of 560 miles to play teams like Blyth Spartans; and supports the campaign led by fans, residents and readers of the Gloucester Citizen newspaper to see the club promoted to the Blue Square Conference South.
