Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Peter Kilfoyle (Labour), on Monday, 26 October 2009, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 70 members in total.

BT'S SURCHARGE ON TELEPHONE BILLS

That this House condemns as absurd and unwarranted the ??9 surcharge imposed on each BT bill where the customer does not pay by direct debit or by BT's payment plan; notes the bizarre justification that it is to pay BT for the cost of customers paying their bills; believes it to discriminate against poorer customers; and demands that it be withdrawn forthwith.
