Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Karen Buck (Labour), on Tuesday, 10 November 2009, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 18 members in total.
SAFE AS HOUSES CAMPAIGN
That this House congratulates Inside Housing on the Safe as Houses campaign to raise awareness about housing safety standards, following the Lakanal House fire, which tragically claimed six lives earlier this year; recognises the importance of taking steps such as those proposed by the campaign to improve carbon monoxide detection in new homes with gas appliances, to provide emergency procedure notices in all corridors in high-rise blocks of flats and to develop a national database of tower blocks; and calls on the Government to work with local authorities, housing providers and builders to this end.
